What is Galentine's Day?
You may have heard of it--the curious 'Galentine's Day' that more and more women are celebrating every year. You might be wondering, what is Galentine's Day?
Fans of the NBC sitcom Parks and Rec know all about Galentine's Day, because that's where it all started! Back in 2010, the show aired the eponymous episode during its second season. The show's front runner Leslie Knope hosts her annual Galentine's Day party, which she invented as a holiday exclusively for the ladies, celebrated the day before Valentine's Day.
After the episode aired, Galentine's Day really stuck! After all, singles don't have any desire to celebrate Valentine's Day, and even some couples find it to be a cheesy, greeting card holiday. Galentine's Day gave shifted the focus to friendship and gave women everywhere an opportunity to really enjoy this romantic time of the year, even if they don't have a partner.
